Pacemaker. “An ongoing personal series of illustrations inspired by my lifelong congenital heart block and the pacemaker I’m fitted with. I’ve just had surgery for pacemaker number five and an upgrade to a biventricular system, including the addition of two new leads wired to my heart that make it a more significant procedure with risks.
“I use my heart block as a sort of superpower, but this bionic man who I am is also a human, too. I guess these images are a sort of therapy for me and a way of trying to make sense of the life I know as ‘normal.’”
