We decided that it might be too painful so went this direction. I found this machine at a prop house. It's an old hair-curling device from the 1920s or '30s. We attached it to the model and I photographed him in dramatic light, screaming as if electrified. I then photographed a sheet of paper with chemical equations on it and printed the two images on the same sheet of paper using two enlargers in the darkroom."
