"Sideshow Series. While traveling in the Deep South working on a personal project about people and places of romantic wanderings, I was able to make friends with some traveling circus people. I wanted to photograph the last traveling sideshow in America. My goal was to celebrate these and other people who have made this country so great.“Bruce Snowdon a.k.a. ‘Howard Huge.’ He had traveled with the Ward Hall Shows for 26 years. These vintage backdrops were all hand-painted on canvas. He said those years were so fulfilling for him and that sideshow people are often misread as misfits.
