"The Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind is dedicated to providing programs and services that assist individuals who are blind or visually impaired in obtaining and maintaining independence at home, school, work and in the community," said creative director Jake Lefebure. "Visually-impaired people depend on their touch for sight, and so we wanted to use that as a concept for the annual. To reinforce their point of view; we chose to use simple silhouetted graphics as chapter dividers. Then to further the concept, we suggested Braille embossing, but it proved to be too costly. Instead we selected a highly textured paper for the added depth and dimension. Finally, we made the book small so that it fit in your hands and had an overall special feel."
