"For this article for the Delta Shuttle Sheet, the art director wanted to show the prototypical New York hotel bar...not the new, but the old and established...The ones with dark wood interiors, dim lighting, and plush carpets that muffle noise. I ran around the city and ducked into a few to take some photo references and had a good time piecing them together. I wanted to convey the density of the people as well as incorporate the above mentioned elements of a New York hotel bar. The distortions of the interior allowed me to create the aura of density and to incorporate all the elements I wanted. The skewing of perspective somehow comes naturally for me...perhaps as a way of rebelling against all the perspective training I had when I was studying architecture." 9 x 14 1/2.
