“EA Mech Warriors” :30 TV spot. “Wieden+Kennedy and EA Sports approached Motion Theory to capture the experience of playing NBA Live '06 with an offbeat, sci-fi concept. 'Mech Warriors' features Tracy McGrady and Dwayne Wade in a venue that initially appears to be a practice gym, but turns out to be a high-tech testing facility for full-sized robot versions of NBA players. The twist hits when McGrady finishes playing, and walks over to a line-up of NBA superstars. He stops in front of Wade, then suddenly opens up mechanically, revealing a young gamer sitting inside his chest cavity, controlling his every move. The excited gamer hops out of the control seat, climbs aboard the Dwayne Wade robot, and takes the floor to test out Wade's moves. To create the spot's stunningly realistic robotic twists, Motion Theory teamed their in-house effects department with the robot specialists at Stan Winston Studios, who created incredible life-sized versions of the robots for close-ups.”
