R.E.M. "Animal" 4:01. "R.E.M.'s 'Animal' poetically references getting back to our most primal natures, and connecting with the deepest aspects of reality. To echo these themes, Motion Theory conceived, directed and designed the story of a man who discovers that he can see the invisible forces of life, emotion, connection, humanity-during the duration of an eclipse. As the video unfolds, everything takes on a different quality for the man-energies arise that resemble living constellations, people appear to be connected by bioluminescent strands, and movement creates patterns of light. All of these energies also connect with the video's cosmic moments, which take us past planets, galaxies and nebulae, connecting outer space with inner space, and reinforcing the idea that the invisible energy connects it all together. When the eclipse ends, even though we can't see the energy and connections any more, there's a sense that they're always there, right underneath the surface."
