"During a trip to Toronto for a workshop with a handful of illustration students, I came across some letter-sized papers left on a desk in an empty classroom. They had been mashed in a number of different directions by instructors or students placing heavy bags or audio-visual equipment on them. The indentations almost appeared to be letterforms, which I found intriguing enough to make note of. On the flight home, I made some small sketches and tried to work out how I could spread the idea over a number feature type treatments in an upcoming issue of DestinAsian. Reacting to the headline of this story on Tibet using the idea of an unfolded secret note laid flat to show off the various planes and creases made by the bending of the paper with each 'panel' of the grid revealing a letter of the headline and author's name."
