"I have a number of 'manufactured type' collections and keep them in bins in my studio where I throw almost anything I find during my travels. One bit of collecting I did for a while was machine-stitched clothing tags, which I clipped out of old T-shirts or even my wife's skirts. The best ones have the threading reversed on the back side, they're usually all loose with stray threads. My designer, Jenn Roberts, played around with different ways to draw the stitching which was to be used on a book cover design. In the end, we thought it would be a good solution for DestinAsian where I could explore the idea over a number of layouts. We are now in the process of working up an entire font rendered as sewn characters and will be offering it for purchase."
