"We design over 120 different informational brochures each year for our buses and rail passengers. To unify the format, we developed a simple grid. While titling, Web site call-out and logo placement are constant, the fun now lies in playing by the rules and at the same time messing them up a bit with each new job. Left to right: Our System Map and Destinations brochures are two elements of our core publications; a recent redesign incorporates our proprietary icons; The Metro Red Line Destinations Guide connects rail passengers to local attractions. (Most of our take-ones are presented in two or more languages, often in the same piece.); Each summer, we promote Metro as a way to reach Southern California's hot spots. Here, a take-one highlights beach connections. We started with a photographic cover, but our end-result used the photo as the base for a more painterly approach."
