"This CD design was for Alabama Slim and his friend Little Freddy King, long-time New Orleans' bluesmen. Tim Duffy had heard about Slim's reputation as a great musician even though Slim had never put out his own album. He also knew that Slim and Freddy had been displaced after Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans. Slim and Freddy were living in Dallas writing songs about their lives and the damage that Katrina had wrought on their hometown. Tim put them together with producer Ardie Dean and other New Orleans musicians to record The Mighty Flood. As for the aging newcomer Alabama Slim, Tim notes, ‘It's clear that traditional blues will never die as long as there are artists determined to scuffle to hold onto their blues, even if it takes 50 years to get in the studio.’"
