“Pittsburgh's new August Wilson Center celebrates all things African American, with a mission to preserve, present and interpret the art, culture and history of African Americans. Public programming has begun despite the fact that their state-of-the-art building is not scheduled to open until 2008,” said communications director Anita Driscoll. “The cover of this oversized seasonals brochure (9 1/8 " x 11 7/8") emphasizes the word ‘Culture’ with huge letterforms and a rich, sophisticated color palette. It appropriately captures the spirit of the events and performances described within—an interesting and aggressive mix of modern dance, social commentary, music, poetry and architecture. While the brochure's ostensible purpose is to announce a vibrant series of diverse events, it also serves a larger purpose: to promote this dynamic new cultural organization.”
