“The Museum of the Portuguese Language is the first institution devoted exclusively to the language of a country. It is a museum of the 21st century that presents new forms of connecting language to people,” said Ralph Appelbaum Associates of New York. “Rather than traversing galleries filled with objects and text panels, visitors are immersed in a sensual and subjective journey through language, utilizing audiovisuals, lectures, virtual experiences and interactive opportunities. Located in the heart of São Paulo, the museum is in the Light Station, the meeting point between spoken Portuguese and other languages. Features include a Language Plaza, with projected images and words and audio of Brazilian literature; a grand gallery with a 120-meter media experience; an interactive Gallery of Influences; a timeline of the Portuguese, African and indigenous languages and traditions; and an interactive game called the Etymology Table." © Peter Mauss, Esto
