"When screen printing, as you begin to print a color, you always want to test print a few pulls to make sure everything looks OK. Instead of sacrificing clean paper purchased for the run, we pull from a pile of misprints we always have lying around. After these trash sheets have been through the press a few times, they become one-of-a-kind monoprints that always end up creating amazing color, texture and composition. We are constantly humiliated by nature's ability to make something beautiful out of something so utilitarian. When asked what our biggest influence is, we usually cite these test prints."
