Min Wang, designer
Official poster of the XXIX Olympiad: More than two millennia ago the Chinese began carving inscriptions into stone to preserve historical and cultural records. In the seventh century they discovered how to make multiple copies of the records by covering the stones with paper and tamping the paper with an inked pad; because the ink doesn’t touch the areas of the paper that are pressed into the inscription, the process produces white characters on a black background. That is the paradigm followed by Min Wang when designing this poster using all 35 Summer Olympic Games sports pictograms and the Dancing Beijing emblem.
