The medal design, inspired by ancient jade pieces, was the result of a competition within China that garnered 265 submissions from such entities as the China Banknote Printing and Minting Corporation. This time, the winner was CAFA. Fashioned from gold and jade, suspended from red ribbons with a woven core wave pattern, the medals symbolize nobility and the virtues of ethical behavior and honor.”
