Emblem for the Queen's Award to Industry. 1965 (displayed by kind permission of The Queen's Award Office). "In 1976, when the award was given for both export and technology, Games made further changes to the design: 'I took the opportunity of omitting the jewels from the crown so as to balance and simplify the design. The Garter King of Arms and Lyon King of Arms were very disapproving and we had quite a fight. I told them Britain was bankrupt anyway and had to get rid of the jewels and besides they spoiled my design. Since it's only commercial art and not heraldry, they let me proceed. I was dubbed: the man who stole the Crown Jewels!'"
