Masterpiece Theatre Title sequence, 1993. "The goal was to make an updated version of the library, featuring the more recent stories and stars and taking advantage of the latest technical options. Props and set pieces were gathered and taken to the R/GA studios in New York where they were assembled into table-top scenes and shot primarily with a computer-programmed 35mm motion control camera. Mechanical effects were rigged by R/GA throughout, for example: in the opening frame the familiar red-bound Masterpiece book slides out as the camera passes; the live-action rearing horse in frame 2 is back-projected frame by frame, timed to the motion control camera; in frame 3, the mechanical guillotine drops as the camera passes; the rover of the Masterpiece book lifts open as the camera settles on the title page in frame 6. Because the candle flame needed to be shot real-time, this scene was shot with the older gimble-mounted snorkel camera."
