"Frodo Lives! Two of the buttons on this 1967 cover carry that message. These buttons, along with beads, amulets and so forth, were common hippie adornment. Our decision to show them was triggered by the rock posters we reproduced in the issue. The posters had a rare appeal and they offered a new kick for a public that was attracted to the subculture they reflected."
