“This self-generated project allowed me to study and document many of the trees in my St. Louis neighborhood,” said designer Heather Corcoran. “I collected the leaves while taking stroller walks with my nine-month-old daughter. Margaret spent much of her time on those walks pointing upward and calling out ‘tree!’—one of her first words and a kind of game that we played. I collected the leaves over several weeks, identified them using various books, and then designed the poster. The information graphics at the bottom of the poster are meant to provide some context for the primary visual matter. I see this as a project in family learning.”
