"The cat in the hat is Theodor Geisel (Dr. Suess), a Dartmouth alumni who was drawn for the magazine of the same name. I often have trouble drawing iconic comic characters—Charlie Brown, Popeye, Krazy Cat—their qualities and features are so elemental and precise that it's easy to screw them up. I think Wendy McMillan approved of the Grinch partly because his skin is Dartmouth green."
