"The Pencil Factory is an (occasional) illustration collective based out of Greenpoint, Brooklyn. This image was included in our first project, a poster collection printed on humble newsprint. Being short on time, I threw together some existing sketchbook work on a simple background. I was very pleased with the results and enjoyed the exhilarating new way of working. So I suppose sometimes limitations can be a virtue and lead to new solutions. It won the Silver Medal at the Society of Illustrators later that year. Validation!"
