Red Bird on Bark, personal work. "I was at a friend's studio when I found this dead bird. He had been on top of a cabinet in a box for at least a few days when I found him, still fully intact with a gorgeous red chest and belly. I sourced some tree bark and dried leaves with the intent to bring these three things—bird, leaf, tree—back from the dead. I was inspired by the Quay Brothers short animation, This Unnameable Little Broom, in which a bird-like creature becomes fascinated by a painting, not realizing it's a bait to lure him into a trap."
