"An Op-Ed illustration for an article about poverty. When discussing the project, Alexandra thought it would be best to stay away from trying to depict the roots of poverty, and instead focus on the struggle to escape it. That made it much easier, to say the least. I chose to show poverty as a confining box or cage, represented by a slum, that one needs to climb out of."
