“I’m a builder and wanted that kind of satisfaction in a photographic process, so I decided to compose images in Photoshop from a toolkit of pre-photographed parts. I did a series by gathering a lot of relevant pieces, in this case, plumbing parts, and photographed them one at a time. Each piece was then stripped out and retouched. I used these to ‘build’ an image. I had no idea what I would build, so I let that evolve as I worked. What came out of this was a central theme of seven chakras. These can take weeks to make, and are huge 30 × 40-foot files with many layers.” Personal work.
