"I designed Export on a whim, based on some peculiar lettering I found printed on several cardboard boxes. The unexpected but cohesive structural vocabulary of the letterforms suggests that their anonymous creator was unfamiliar with the Latin alphabet. I couldn't resist the challenge of rationalizing them into a typeface, while preserving the apparent chaos of the source."
