“The sequence was inspired by Sidney Paget’s original illustrations for Sherlock Holmes stories, which appeared in The Strand Magazine in the late 1800s. Building on the music and visual language we established for the first Sherlock Holmes film, the second sequence added layered washes of watercolor and etched patterns on freeze-frame illustrations, flowing like pages of the magazine.”
