“Now on permanent display in Obscura’s showroom, the Pixel Tree was originally created as an art sculpture to demonstrate the interactive touchscreen and retina display features of the new Chrome Pixel at Google I/O 2013. We arranged two rows of 30 laptops in a circle, for a combined resolution of 76,800 by 3,400 pixels and 60 channels of audio. The visitors could draw paths on the screens with their fingertips, which triggered visual media and musical tones that played simultaneously across the laptops. Each individual gesture rippled across the screens, overlapping with other gestures, resulting in a multiuser visual and aural symphony.”
