“When the world’s oldest international sailing race was held in San Francisco Bay in 2013, organizers saw an opportunity to engage visitors in an exploration of the sailing technology of the year's boats—AC72 catamarans. Obscura created an interactive projection experience and educational exhibit for the public, installed on Pier 29. Flying on Water included a tactile wall of composite materials, a fourteen-foot-tall digital 3-D model of the AC72, and a motion-activated kiosk that let visitors play with changing pressure differentials in twelve knots of wind to affect speed and bearing in a simulated model of the sails.”
