“When Heath Ceramics changed ownership about ten years ago, we were hired to do a complete rebrand. Heath’s rich history and legacy of midcentury modern design was more than meaty enough to fill an entire book, so, along with writer Amos Klausner, we pitched the idea to Chronicle Books and, voilà, Heath’s new owners had an additional 200-plus-page calling card to promote its relaunch. The cover packaging references the dynamic between Heath’s signature glazing and raw clay edges. Even the book’s signatures alternate between coated and uncoated paper to reinforce this concept.”
