“Espinosa Nova is a reconstruction of the typefaces used by Antonio de Espinosa, the most important Mexican printer of the sixteenth century and probably the first type designer in the Americas (1551). The family evokes the printed materials of the time and the diversity of typographic styles in the Renaissance: the core is the Roman letters, but the family also includes a rotunda blackletter font, typographic ornaments and four fonts of ornamental capitals. It is ideal for composing text in books that require a touch of elegance and distinction. The family earned two Certificates of Excellence in 2010: one from TDC2, a Type Directors Club type design competition, and another from Tipos Latinos, a biennial competition and show for Latin American typography.”
