“Written by Barrie Potter and published by tor.com in July 2014, To Eternity earned a silver medal from the Society of Illustrators. The short-form comic was the first published piece we produced together. I was back home in North Carolina and couldn’t sleep, so I wrote Barrie and asked him to write me a piece about the last man and woman on Earth. Initially, the Joan character was going to be convinced that her husband, Stuart, was cheating on her. But we decided later that what she really wanted was more ineffable and that she would ask for a divorce. It isn’t the first time we’ve compared marriage to a global nuclear holocaust.”
