“This painting, titled Proposition 8, is a conceptual favorite of mine. I spent a week doodling ideas, and when this finally came from my pencil, it was the obvious choice to accompany an article in Liberty magazine. At the time, a heated debate about Prop 8—which banned same-sex marriages in California—was in full swing and the story presented the views on gay marriage from all sides. Prop 8 was later ruled unconstitutional, and rightfully so.”
