“In 2008, kinetic sculptures opened a new chapter in spatial communication, from virtual pixels to physical voxels. For the BMW Museum in Munich, Germany, we designed a new kind of dynamic interface that could represent 3-D forms. To describe the design process with a visual narrative, we choreographed shapes within a dynamic plane. The final artwork consists of 714 metal spheres suspended from the ceiling on thin steel wires and animated with the help of mechanics, electronics and code. The theme of the installation is the form-finding process in car design, which is performed in a seven-minute choreographed sequence.”
