The first thing you should do when you go to Stockholm, Sweden–based creative agency Act Normal’s new site is open another tab and do something else. This may seem like a counteractive instruction, but the tab interaction is worth it. The little details that Per Stenius and Oscar Sundberg—the dynamic duo of designer/developers behind Act Normal—put into their site reflect the craft of their work, which extends from branding to digital product design to creating websites to going viral for a site where you can slap Stenius in the face with an eel. Built in Javascript and HTML with a small amount of NPM modules to facilitate lazy loading, the site divides Act Normal’s portfolio into three minipages: “Creative,” featuring the agency’s brand and design work; “Products,” which showcases its work with startups; and “Internet,” a collection of personally driven projects. Hover animations over the links to case study pages give visitors a taste of what’s to come; these animations skew to the direction of your mouse. A scrolling background on the homepage features illustrations by Bitch Ink, the duo’s favorite tattoo artist.
This Geelong West, Victoria, Australia–based creative agency encapsulates its mission in an emblematic identity on its new site.
