Background: Actual Source is the collaborative design practice of JP Haynie, based in the United States, and Davis Ngurape, who splits time between the United States and the Cook Islands. Together we design publications, identities, websites and physical spaces for clients in diverse fields, and our site’s purpose is to show this work in a very simple way.

Core features: The typographic layout around the work, the clickable team roster that shows the people who worked on each project, and the independent scrolling of the information and our projects. We decided on a typography-heavy layout to show the specs of our work. Also, the cursor functions as an image counter as well on hovering. We didn’t want to put arrows on or underneath the photos, so this seemed like an elegant way to tell people that each project is also a carousel.

Navigation design: Our ethos was to have the simplest scrolling website possible. We didn’t want visitors to have to leave the homepage on their desktop computers, so we put everything in one place. No need to navigate to a project and then come back.

Technology: We built the site in Kirby along with Vue.js.
