For more than 150 years, the Albright Knox museum in Buffalo, New York, has collected and displayed art from eminent artists around the world, including Pablo Picasso, Frida Kahlo and Francis Bacon. Philadelphia-based design firm Bluecadet—with cooperation from digital media agency Piction and collection management agency Axiell on managing digital assets and databases—created a new site to enable visitors to discover the museum’s offerings. The Search the Collection section enables users to search for artworks in the Albright-Knox’s collection by artist, title, object type and date range. The site provides basic information about each artwork and a large image for most works. Users can enlarge and download images for personal and educational uses—with the permission of copyright laws. Albright-Knox’s new site has received positive feedback from staff members, board members and the people throughout Buffalo’s cultural community.
