Based in France, Aristide Benoist is a creative developer passionate about motion and design. Wanting his website portfolio to reflect that, he asked San Diego–based graphic designer Ben Mingo and Portland–based designer Michael Novia to help him with his website.

The website design mixes transitional editorial typography with a hyper-aligned technical grid. Each section of the website is represented by full bleed monochromatic images with bold paginated numbers to assist with quick and accessible navigation. Using HTML5, CSS3 and Paul Lewis’ FLIP animation techniques, users can flip through the different projects—either by using the keyboard arrows or the mouse, clicking the stacked papers icon or by looking through the menu.

For more details on each project, the user can also press the “hold” button in the middle of the page. With Mingo working on design, Novia working on the 3-D aspects and Benoist himself working on motion and development, the three friends were thrilled when they received attention on Twitter and an FWA of the Day.
