Background: This is my online portfolio displaying samples of my work, showing case studies of completed projects in the past and details about myself and the awards I’ve received in the digital field. The main target of personal websites is to get new clients and projects, and so is mine. My site’s been featured in many design galleries and on websites, and has been experiencing around 2,000 users a day; either they’re looking for inspiration or hiring me. This was the goal of launching my site, so I think I did it to the fullest.

Design core: The site features beautiful typography and clean, bright design throughout, with plenty of white space—which has been a trend in the last few years. It’s super easy and quick to navigate between projects.

Favorite details: The content itself is what I’m most proud of. I always feel like I haven’t done much, but when I look back at the projects I’ve done, I remember the story behind each one, the challenges I’ve been through and the impacts they’ve made, I feel delighted and proud.

Challenges: Creatives usually can’t find enough time to do their own work, and I’m no different. Dubai had a public vacation for seven days, and this provided a chance for me to work on my own site. That was a hard challenge to accept, as this period is far too short to make a website that reflects well on a web designer! Time didn’t really affect the project, but I think if I had more time, I could have showcased the projects more in-depth than they were. But I still have a chance to do so, and I am working on it!

New techniques: I’m always keen to learn. I gained a lot of knowledge on this project on loading pages much faster. It proved to be good practice for using new development tricks and techniques.

Navigation structure: Getting users to see as many projects as possible was the main goal. A seamless user experience enables you to see a new project after you reach the end of every project quickly—without reloading the page or loading new content. Basically, while you’re looking at a project, the following one loads in the background.

Technology: The layout was designed using Adobe XD and Photoshop CC. The back end uses PHP and MySQL. The main core of the site is built using HTML 5 Canvas and WebGL. GSAP, PixiJS and three.js are the main frameworks I used.
