Background: BOLD Capital Partners is a collection of entrepreneurs, engineers, physicists, doctors, surfers and musicians who are committed to helping other entrepreneurs achieve their dreams of changing the world. The website illustrates BOLD and its portfolio of transformative companies that spans two key areas: Health & Life Sciences and Deep Tech & Productivity. The modern, intuitive website portrays the essence of achievement, ambition and sophistication encapsulated within the company’s ethos.
Design core: We are most stoked about how companies are featured, from the standpoints of their technologies, brand collateral, socials, news and lead. They’re represented in an immersive, interactive and personable slide-out section. We articulated a similar approach to the way the team members of BOLD are also portrayed. The website consistently puts BOLD’s portfolio of companies and talented people first, as you can see throughout the content and navigation.
Challenges: Balance. Implementing creative and modern design and technologies to enterprise-level corporate offerings. This also extends to performance, adopting critical methods to minimize site bandwidth and load time while bringing the site to life through unique, engaging microinteractions. We learned a couple of neat tricks along the way, having invested a lot of time refining bespoke animations and subtle interactions that inherit design components.
Navigation structure: The navigation is unique in how it opens and closes, with a futuristic, modular grid layout. Instead of having a domineering on-hover state like most states, we incorporated an alternative approach to hover states by focusing on the elements you interact with, subtly fading out its siblings.
Technology: The website is powered by WordPress as a content management system coupled with Advanced Custom Fields for an intuitive admin experience. The site uses technologies like GSAP for animations and jQuery for functionality. We write our CSS in PostCSS, extended by various npm modules that are ultimately compiled by Gulp.
