Exploring all things related to pop culture, fiction and science, the French language magazine Carbone can touch on everything—within a single issue—from the latest work of comic book writer Alan Moore to an original short story about a mysterious video game in an arcade to the latest scientific research on immortality to the occultist teachings of Aleister Crowley. With this in mind, French web design studio Waaark created an ultracontemporary site design with a vivid color palette and an emphasis on the images and illustrations that accompany each article. Built in WordPress, the site works with a caching plugin to speed up page loading times while loading images asynchronously to keep page weights as low as possible.
