Responses by Antony Pradin, founder, Contemple.
Background: This site is Contemple’s introduction to the digital world. For this new site, the idea was to make a simplified version of a portfolio, straight to the point while keeping a playful navigation system and fun interactions.
Our target audience is pretty wide ranging from perfume brands to architecture firms even if we work a lot with the music industry, such as with record labels, festivals and booking agencies.
Design core: The easy navigation! You can navigate through almost the entire site without even a click. You just have to scroll to change pages. Then, the overall aesthetic: minimal and bold.
Favorite details: The bust! Without eyes, it is there to remind you that it is important to take the time to contemplate things (contempt in French means “contemplate.”)
Challenges: The hardest part was managing to keep the site minimalist. It’s always tempting to add more, whether it’s in the content or the animations.
Navigation structure: As I mentioned above, you can navigate through almost the entire site without even making a click. Even to send us an e-mail, you just have to scroll the ”Studio” page for 2,000 pixels. We wanted to do this because mobile platforms are getting bigger and bigger, so you can browse on your mobile without changing your finger—which is convenient and cool!
Technology: The back end and CMS are on WordPress. For the front end, we used WebGL and GSAP.
