Cardiff Bay, Wales–based multidisciplinary design studio designdough took its unified brand vision and positioned itself with a new portfolio site. Truly reflecting the design studio it showcases, the site’s design elements pull from the real-world elements in designdough’s space: the grey color palette reflects the studio’s grey walls; gold icons and typography mirror the windows and building ornamentation; and the combination of high-tech and rustic textures reflects the designdough’s handmade standing desks with the clean edges of its computers, thoroughly combining contemporary with vintage aesthetics. “There’s something incredibly powerful about working amongst your own brand everyday,” says designdough’s director Joe Brown. “Our whole design team was pretty in tune with our brand, and our developers knew the whole brand inside out, so it was just a matter of translating it to pixels. Those are the keys to working quality, interesting design into site.” The site has been nominated and singled out for attention by the design community, including accolades from the CSS Design Awards and Awwards.com.
