Background: Echo Location Talent Agency’s new website incorporates a brand revamp to better reflect the agency’s vibrant and energetic culture. The outcome features not only its extensive roster’s information, but also a dynamic feed, which acts as a hub for the industry’s latest news.
Highlights: The homepage feed, which pulls in content on spotlight artists, latest news, upcoming events, featured videos and tracks, and rotates the display of its artists. The site design features a range of geometric shapes in a set color palette to create a dynamic yet consistent look.
Challenges: Producing the homepage feed, and striking a balance between creating a varied look for each modular component and ensuring the content type is clear and easily identifiable. The responsive design also comes into play—catering for different text lengths and typefaces.
Favorite details: The design template options for different components like event posters, artist featured images and spotlight articles. The variety in the shapes, layouts and colors helps keep the immense amount of content on the site dynamic and digestible. It is also great to see the design translate into the site build, especially how the event poster retains its print aesthetic.
Navigational structure: To handle the large quantity of content, the structure is kept very simple and straightforward. All secondary level content consists of artist profiles and article pages. Users will likely spend a lot of their time navigating between artist profiles, so the breadcrumb on the top of the page and related artists at the bottom of the page are added to smooth out the user journey.
Technical features: The filtering system on the roster page has to be both easy and simple to use on the front end, and easy to manage on the back end. Since content managers have to set up over 100 artist profiles, they need the ability to categorize by artist type, highlight new artists and automate the “new” tag expiration dates, and hide any legacy artists from the main roster listing. On the CMS, it’s as simple as ticking boxes and picking a date from the calendar; then everything is sorted.
