Background: The Epicurrence website’s purpose is to promote and sell tickets for the 2018 Summer Revival event at Yosemite National Park from August 27-30, 2018. Epicurrence is the original activity-focused non-conference for creatives, that focuses on community and unforgettable experiences. The event and website are targeted towards anyone in a creative field, from graphic and user interface (UI) design to photography and videography.

Highlights: The illustrations, typography and white space all blend together to create the unique experience when browsing and convey the atmosphere of the actual event. Little details, such as activity icon animations and hover and loading effects also add extra allure to the UI design.

Challenges: Coordinating an eight-person team that is spread out globally. Everyone volunteered their time to make this happen, even with their day jobs.

Favorite details: Thanks to everyone’s contribution and enthusiasm, we’ve managed to jointly deliver a balanced website that loads fast and looks great across desktop and mobile.

Technical features: We wanted to do something fun with the judges’ portraits, add interactivity and breath some life in, so we used the depth mapping technique with native WebGL to make them feel alive. Briefly, the depth mapping is achieved by superimposing the original image with an image that contains information related to the distance of the surfaces of the scene objects to create the illusion of 3-D viewing.
