Ever since Aaron Draplin and Chicago-based ad agency Coudal Partners released Field Notes a decade ago, the notebooks have been adored by fans all over the world. Chicago-based digital agency One Design Company designed and built a new site that reflects Field Notes’s level of polished design sensibility and adds new features and functionality. Collaborating closely with Coudal throughout the project, the digital agency updated the look and feel of Field Notes’s previous site, applying a responsive layout, a ‘Dispatches’ section that details the brand’s production, design and stories from devoted users, and a new e-commerce platform that enables fans and wholesale customers to sign up for accounts, as well as subscribe for notifications of limited editions and new products. “We realized that we had to create a platform that would grow with the organization,” says David Sieren, design director of One Design Company. “We had to consider functionality and technical flexibility that could support them over the long haul.” Built in the CMS Craft and using its new Commerce package, the site’s launch caused social channels far and wide to buzz with excitement over its new features and design.
