For the Chicago-based home goods retailer, Chicago web design firm Bright Bright Great created an e-commerce platform that artfully weaves Great Lakes Home’s backstory into every aspect of the site. “The owner of Great Lakes Home came to us with an idea to center his brand around the story of a fictional sea captain and sea monster,” says Bright Bright Great’s director of marketing Nick Lush. “From there, we set about constructing a full narrative that anchors that story in the history and culture of the Great Lakes region, while giving his store’s aesthetic a sense of purpose.” Because the home goods retailer stocks products for every room, Bright Bright Great chose to center its site’s navigation around the home, with each room acting as a category to facilitate the e-commerce experience. Line art elements, including the sea monster in Great Lakes Home’s logo, illustrate the store’s backstory while reinforcing the concept of beautility, a portmanteau of “beautiful” and “utility.” The monospace font ATC Harris by Chicago type foundry Avondale Type Co. rounds out the elegant site.
Bluecadet created a online platform that soars for the number one museum in the United States.
