Digital agency MODULUS needed a way to introduce its new brand FUTURAMO to other digital agencies on the SaaS/Cloud market. To answer this problem, the Kraków-based agency created History of Icons, a promotional website that examines icon design on a variety of operating systems from the 1980’s to the present. History of Icons points out the most important and interesting design developments over the decades, presenting both a chronological history of UI progression as well as acknowledging the people who invented and refined the tiny elements that make user interfaces memorable. The entire site was designed as one page in an elongated vertical format to reflect the linear nature of a timeline. As users scroll down the site, subtle HTML5 and CSS animations highlight the changes and evolutions in iconographic style. FUTURAMO developers gathered historical data and material, but also kept submissions open to viewers in order to create an ongoing, living project. The site also showcases the FUTURAMO Icons app, a SaaS product that enables users to create stunning custom software for their clients.
