Background: Iceberg is a transmedia project aimed at creating a tangible and global impact in the real world. The website’s objectives are to introduce the project to generate interest and establish an initial user database; convey the project’s “statement of intent” through a design that creates an emotional positive impact on the audience, with a professional, innovative and committed approach; spark interest in the project’s next steps—a documentary launch, podcast, crowdfunded campaign and other initiatives; and develop a flexible, scalable website that can evolve through the different phases of the project.
Larger picture: The website served as the project’s kickoff point and initial launch hub. It directs users to ongoing initiatives as well as those planned for the future.
Design core: The site shines a light on what usually remains hidden. Through an immersive visual narrative, it highlights initiatives on what the system keeps in the shadows. Blurred typography, scribbles and microinteractions represent that invisible reality.
Favorite details: How the design not only supports but embodies the message. The crossed-out elements, the unseen, the interferences—everything reinforces the idea that change may seem impossible, yet it is happening, even if we don’t always see it.
Challenges: Transforming such a deep, political narrative into a clear, visually compelling digital experience without diluting its impact. We wanted to break away from the typical “green” aesthetic and create something that resonates with an adult and activist audience, steering clear of clichés like tomatoes, recycling icons and green typography.
New lessons: The most powerful aspect of design isn’t always what is shown but what is implied. Sometimes, leaving space for the invisible speaks louder than filling everything in.
Navigation structure: Simplicity and clarity. We aimed to make navigation as accessible as possible while ensuring a smooth, easy and fluid user experience.
Special navigational features: More than just navigation, we conceived the UX as an experience. We created an almost-cinematic scroll-driven journey, designed to leave you wanting to explore further—or even start all over again.
Technology: The front end was built with Nuxt using CSS, GSAP, JavaScript and the WordPress REST API.
