Based in Melbourne, Australia, family-owned furniture brand Jardan draws inspiration from the relaxed, Australian way of life to create its quality, eco-friendly furniture pieces. As part of a longstanding professional relationship that has included rebranding, retail wayfinding and printed magazine design, Melbourne-based design studio Seesaw partnered with web design and development firm Studio PDA to create a new digital platform for Jardan. The furniture brand’s new site puts its handcrafted care and high quality at the forefront. Interactive furniture pages enable users to pick sizes, select materials in real time and then add products to wishlists, where industry clients can create mood boards for design projects. Each product page features photographs and 360-degree 3-D renders. The online Jardan magazine tells the brand’s enduring story, based around family, news, furniture design and the quintessential Australian experience.
Needing to showcase Jardan’s products while providing seamless e-commerce functionality, Seesaw conducted extensive user research in order to ensure a site experience that was both comprehensive and easy to navigate. Split into two halves, the homepage acts as a giant navigation menu where visitors can choose to view Jardan’s products or learn more about the furniture brand. A two-leveled, omnipresent hamburger menu also ensures that users can quickly access specific content. The e-commerce function is similarly split into two, in order to cover cases where furniture will require more customization; “Buy Now” products are run through WooCommerce, and “Enquire Products” utilizes a completely custom product enquiry builder.
Built on WordPress with custom plugins, the site has seen more than 29,000 unique visitors since its launch, with increased user engagement and decreased bounce rate.
